{"id":13,"date":"2011-03-06T16:29:20","date_gmt":"2011-03-06T21:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.mathisdumaisdontigny.com\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2013-08-15T08:39:39","modified_gmt":"2013-08-15T13:39:39","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/mathisdumaisdontigny.com\/?page_id=13&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The <strong>Mathis Dumais-Dontigny Foundation <\/strong>was established in June 2009 in memory of little Mathis, aged three, taken away by cancer in 2008.\u00a0 The Foundation has been registered since 2010 and the purpose is to raise funds for\u00a0non-profit organizations \/ foundations (CHEO, Leucan of the Outaouais region, as well as other registered organizations\/foundations) to help children and adults with cancer and other early childhood diseases.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Believing in our cause, NHL Ottawa Senators&rsquo; #44\u00a0Jean-Gabriel Pageau\u00a0participates in the\u00a0annual golf tournament as Honorary President to support the <strong>Mathis Dumais-Dontigny Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Mathis Dumais-Dontigny<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>June 14, 2005<\/strong><strong> &#8211; October 13, 2008<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our beautiful Mathis was born on June 14, 2005.\u00a0 When he arrived in our lives, we were all overjoyed.\u00a0 In our eyes, Mathis was the best, the nicest, the quietest, the most serene and above all the most beautiful and the most intelligent.\u00a0 We would say to ourselves that it was unbelievable to have a child like him&#8230;.he was an angel and we would want a dozen like him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During his second birthday, we offered Mathis a Montreal Canadian hockey jersey with his name and the number 2 on it.\u00a0 His famous sweater&#8230;&#8230;he had it all the time except when going to bed.\u00a0 It was only a few days after his 2nd birthday that he was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor (cancer).\u00a0 The tumor was located on his right kidney and the doctors had to operate as soon as possible.\u00a0\u00a0 It was during the month of July that they removed the tumor and his right kidney.\u00a0 The operation was a success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This cancer (Wilms Tumor) affects 1 child in 10,000 and 85% of the children survive and live a normal life.\u00a0 Following the removal of his right kidney, Mathis received chemo treatment and radiotherapy for almost one year.\u00a0 During this period, our beautiful Mathis was not aware of anything.\u00a0 Courageous, joyous, cheerful, always in a good mood and so adorable&#8230;&#8230;and furthermore, he showed to whomever wanted to see his \u00a0\u00bbbobo\u00a0\u00bb on his belly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Suddenly, the sad news that nobody wants to hear, they found a spot on his left lung.\u00a0 Mathis must undergo other treatments but this time the treatments are a little more aggressive.\u00a0 In addition, Mathis gets injections, medications and must pass numerous tests daily.\u00a0 All that his little body had to endure was unbelievable and unthinkable.\u00a0 His immune system and antibodies decreased so much that Mathis became increasingly weak making him so frail and fragile.\u00a0 Mathis was taken away by an infection in his lungs and liver.\u00a0 His last fight lasted 10 days.\u00a0 Mathis died on October 13, 2008.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mathis, our little champion, we will never forget you.\u00a0 You will remain in our hearts and in our thoughts forever.
